As you play against harder AI or skilled human opponents, simply running and shooting won't work. The defense will jump and block your shots every time. This is where the Pump Fake comes in. While holding the ball on the ground, press the fake button. Your player will motion to shoot but won't release the ball. If the defender bites and jumps, they are now temporarily out of the play, giving you a completely open shot or an unobstructed lane to the basket for a dunk.
Additionally, you must manage your Super Meter. Found at the top of the screen, this meter fills up as you successfully steal, score, and block. When it is red and flaming, pressing the Super button unleashes a mathematically unblockable shot. Guards might rain down a flaming three-pointer from half-court, while forwards will teleport to the rim for an earth-shattering jam.
